Subscription, Refund and Cancellation Policy

Draft pending legal review. This is the current wording WhatTrust intends to use; it has not yet been approved by lawyers. (refund-cancellation-draft-v0.4-2026-10-28)

The key points in plain language

  • What WhatTrust is. AI software for research, planning, analysis and running your business — not a business opportunity, franchise, investment or source of guaranteed income. We do not supply customers, accounts or locations.
  • Your business is yours. You decide and control your business: decisions, financing, operations, suppliers, communications, licences and taxes.
  • No guaranteed results. We do not guarantee revenue, profit, employment, customers, contracts, sales or success. Many new businesses earn little or nothing.
  • Research has limits. Sources can be incomplete or out of date. Reports separate verified evidence from assumptions — check both before you decide.
  • AI can be wrong. Review every output. Get legal, tax, accounting, financial or licensing advice from a qualified professional where it is required.
  • Other companies' services. Connected providers (email, social, stores, payments, domains) have their own approvals, rules, fees and availability, separate from WhatTrust.
  • Earnings figures are illustrations. They show possible outcomes under stated assumptions, keep revenue, costs, profit and your own income separate, and can be zero or negative. The optimistic case is conditional, not the expected result.
  • What you pay. $89 for the first month, then $149 a month, renewing until you cancel online. Extra research ($19) and optional services are separate and only charged when you choose them.
  • Refunds. Explained by category in the refund policy. Paid research has real costs once it starts. Rights your local law gives you, such as a withdrawal period, always apply.
  • Limits of responsibility. Our responsibility is limited where the law allows. These limits never cover fraud or anything the law does not let us exclude.

This summary helps you understand the full document below; if they differ, the full document applies, and your rights under local law are never reduced.

1. Summary

  • Price: each business is its own subscription. For your first business: US$89 for the first month (only if you have never had a paid WhatTrust subscription), then US$149 per month, plus any applicable tax, renewing automatically every month until you cancel. Each additional business is a separate subscription at the price shown before you buy.
  • Included for each business: personalised analysis and market research including one Deep Research, an execution and growth plan, one website (generation, revisions, hosting with SSL on a WhatTrust address and connection of a domain you own, with no separate monthly website charge), the AI Business Agent with its standard actions, CRM, sales, marketing and money tools, and a one-time allocation of 20 introductory AI agent credits for each eligible business.
  • Optional purchases: additional websites for the same business (US$39 per month each), additional Deep Research (US$19, one-time) and AI agent credit top-ups (US$20 for 2,000 credits, one-time). Each needs its own separate consent.
  • Deep Research starts only when you press "Start my research", never automatically when you pay.
  • Cancel any time online in Account → Subscription & billing. Cancelling stops future renewals. You keep access until the end of the period you have paid for. No automatic refund is issued when you cancel. You can Resume before the period ends.
  • Refunds. Paid research uses real, paid resources once it starts, so we do not give change-of-mind refunds after research has started, except where the law requires it. We fix or refund when something goes wrong on our side: research that fails or is materially defective, billing errors, duplicate or unauthorised charges, and significant outages. Section 5 explains each case.
  • Your legal rights come first. If your local law gives you more rights, such as a 14-day withdrawal right in the EU/EEA, the UK, Turkey or South Korea, or the consumer guarantees under the Australian Consumer Law, those rights apply in addition to this policy (section 9).
  • You can always contact your card issuer or bank.

2. When your subscription and research start

2.1 You are charged when you complete checkout on Stripe's secure payment page.

2.2 A business subscription and its paid workspace activate only after Stripe confirms the payment to us. We verify this confirmation on our servers before granting access. Until then, no paid research or other paid AI processing runs for that business. If the payment does not complete, nothing is activated and nothing is charged.

2.3 At checkout you ask us to start your access to the Service immediately after payment is confirmed. The included Deep Research does not start at payment. It starts only when you press "Start my research". In the EU/EEA, the UK, Turkey and South Korea, if you start research within 14 days of your subscription start, you are first asked to confirm, in a separate step, that you want it to start now and that this affects your withdrawal right (section 9.1).

2.4 If a payment fails. Your account shows "payment needs attention", paid operations pause, and we tell you by email (Terms, sections 4.8 and 4.12). You can update your card through Stripe's customer portal, which is limited to updating your card and viewing your invoice history. If a later payment succeeds, access resumes.

3. How your Deep Research credit works

StageWhat happens to the creditWhat you get
Business subscription activatedOne credit is added for that business (once per business; see the Terms, section 5.2)The workspace, website builder, AI Business Agent, CRM and guidance open
Not startedThe credit stays unused until you press "Start my research"Nothing runs and no research costs are incurred
Research commenced (you pressed "Start my research")The credit is reserved for that jobResearch runs. It usually takes a few minutes. You can leave the page
Delivered (the report meets our evidence-quality standard)The credit is consumedA report with up to five opportunities, their evidence, assumptions and risks
Not delivered: no strong match (no opportunity meets the standard)The credit is released back to youYou are told honestly that no strong match was found, and you can re-scope and run again
Failed (a system or provider error, or the job could not finish)The credit is released back to youYou can run research again. We never show a failed job as delivered
Cancelled before it ran (for example, your payment failed or your subscription stopped being active)The credit is releasedYou can run research once your subscription is active again

Monthly renewals do not add a new credit. A credit has no cash value and is not refunded in money, except as stated in section 5 or required by law.

One included credit per business subscription, for as long as it continues without interruption. If you cancel and later subscribe again, the new subscription does not include a second credit.

Additional Deep Research. You can buy additional research for US$19 per research (plus any applicable tax). It is a one-time purchase, never a subscription. You buy it by ticking a separate, unticked box that states the exact charge. Its credit is added only after Stripe confirms the payment, and it then follows the same stages as the table above. Refunds are explained in section 5.6.

4. Cancellation

4.1 How. Go to Account → Subscription & billing → Cancel subscription and confirm. You do not need to call or email us.

4.2 Effect.

  • Future renewals of that business subscription stop.
  • You keep access to that business until the end of the period you have already paid for. The date is shown on the billing page and in the cancellation confirmation we email you.
  • The business's records are kept after cancellation, as described in the Privacy Policy, and you can export them.
  • No refund is given for the rest of the current period, unless section 5 or section 9 applies.
  • Cancelling one business does not cancel your other businesses or their additional-website plans.

4.2A Effect on the business's website.

  • Included website. It stays published until the end of the paid period. After that, it stops being served on a domain you connected. Your domain stays registered with your own registrar; you may want to change its DNS records.
  • Additional websites keep their own monthly plans. Cancel each one separately in the website's billing section; cancelling stops its renewal and it stays on its domain until the end of its paid period.

4.3 Resume. Until the paid period ends, you can undo a scheduled cancellation by choosing Resume. Renewals then continue as before, and we record your choice as evidence of your consent to continue.

4.4 Confirmation. When you cancel, we send you a confirmation by email that states the date your access ends.

4.5 Cancelling is not withdrawing. Cancelling stops renewals from the end of the current period. If you are in the EU/EEA, the UK, Turkey or South Korea and want to end the contract within 14 days with a refund under your withdrawal right, use Withdraw from contract instead (section 9.1).

5. Refunds

This section explains, for each kind of charge, when we refund. It applies in addition to your rights under local law (section 9), which prevail where they give you more.

5.1 Business subscription charges (first month and renewals)

  • First month (US$89, or US$149 if the first-month price does not apply). You can cancel at any time, but cancelling does not refund the current period. If you are in the EU/EEA, the UK, Turkey or South Korea, you can instead withdraw within 14 days (section 9.1). If something went wrong on our side, sections 5.4, 5.5 and 5.8 apply.
  • Monthly renewals (US$149). A renewal pays for another month of access to that business's workspace, website, AI Business Agent, CRM and other subscription features. It does not add research or introductory credits. If you forgot to cancel, we do not refund a renewal for that reason alone, except where the law requires (section 9). Cancel before the renewal date to avoid the next charge.
  • Additional businesses. Each additional business subscription is treated on its own under this section 5.1, at the price shown when you bought it.
  • Charged after you validly cancelled. We refund that charge (section 5.5).
  • Included website and introductory credits. These are part of the subscription. They have no separate price, and they do not create a separate refund amount.

5.2 Included research not yet started

  • The included credit stays available while that business subscription is active. Not having started it does not, on its own, entitle you to a refund of your subscription payment, because the payment also covers your access to the workspace, website and other features.
  • EU/EEA, UK, Turkey and South Korea: if you withdraw within 14 days and have not started any research or used any paid add-on, your first payment is refunded in full automatically (section 9.1).
  • The credit has no cash value and is not paid out in money when your subscription ends.

5.3 Research started or completed

  • Once you press "Start my research", the research uses paid data sources and AI processing. We do not give a change-of-mind refund after research has started, including when you disagree with or do not like a report that was delivered to our evidence-quality standard, or when the report shows fewer than five opportunities because the evidence supported fewer. This does not limit sections 5.4 and 9.
  • If research ends with no strong match, or fails, your credit is returned automatically (section 3). Nothing is consumed.

5.4 Research that failed or is materially defective

SituationWhat we do
Research failed or was not deliveredYour credit is released automatically and you can run it again. If we cannot deliver a report that meets our standard within 10 business days (to be confirmed) of your request, we refund the payment that covered that research: the subscription payment for the period in which you started it, or the US$19 purchase.
Report materially defective — it does not meet the evidence-quality standard we describe, for example missing sources, contradicting its own evidence, or built on the wrong profile because of our errorWe correct it or re-run it first, at no cost and without using a credit. If we cannot do so within 10 business days (to be confirmed), we give a partial or full refund of the affected payment.

5.5 Duplicate charges, unauthorised charges and billing errors

SituationWhat we do
Duplicate chargeWe refund the duplicate.
Wrong amount chargedWe refund the difference.
Charged after you validly cancelled or withdrewWe refund the charge.
Unauthorised charge (you did not make or authorise the payment)We refund it and help you secure the account.

5.6 Additional Deep Research (US$19)

  • Before it starts. If you bought additional research and have not pressed "Start my research" for it, we refund the US$19 if you ask within 14 days (to be confirmed) of the purchase. The unused credit is then removed.
  • After it starts. Change-of-mind refunds are not given once that research has started, except where the law requires (section 9). If it fails or is materially defective, section 5.4 applies.
  • A refund of an additional research purchase affects only that purchase. It never changes your subscription or your included credit.

5.7 Additional websites (US$39 per month each)

  • Each additional website for the same business has its own monthly plan, started only with your separate consent and a verified payment.
  • Cancelling stops its renewal at the end of the paid period; the website stays on its domain until then. No automatic refund is issued for the rest of the period.
  • If we cannot fix defective work within a reasonable time, we refund the affected month. Billing errors are handled under section 5.5.
  • See the Website and Domain Service Terms.

5.7A AI agent credits

  • Introductory credits (20 per eligible business) are part of the subscription. They have no cash value, are not refundable and do not renew.
  • Top-ups (US$20 for 2,000 credits). Credits already used are not refunded, except credits taken by a system error, which are restored automatically. Billing errors are refunded under section 5.5. If none of a top-up's credits have been used, we refund it if you ask within 14 days (to be confirmed) of the purchase. See the AI Agent Terms, section 8.
  • If a metered task pauses because the business has reached its monthly service limit (Terms, section 4.13), no credits are taken for work that did not run.

5.7B Optional purchases are separate

Refunding or cancelling an optional purchase never refunds or cancels a business subscription. Refunding or cancelling one business subscription does not refund or cancel another.

5.8 Service unavailability or failure

SituationWhat we do
Significant outage on our side that prevents you using the paid Service for more than 72 consecutive hours (to be confirmed) in a billing periodWe give a pro-rata credit or refund for the affected time.
We remove a core paid feature during a paid period, or end your subscription without causeWe refund the unused part of the period you paid for (Terms, sections 3.6 and 16.3).

Outages caused by third-party platforms you connect, your domain registrar or DNS provider, or events outside our reasonable control, are not our failure, but section 9 still applies where the law gives you a remedy. A pause of advanced AI work because a business reached its monthly service limit (Terms, section 4.13) is not an outage.

5.9 Refunds the law requires

Section 9 explains refunds that local law requires, including the 14-day withdrawal right (EU/EEA, UK, Turkey, South Korea), the Australian Consumer Law guarantees and rights in other countries. Where the law requires a refund, we give it, whatever any other section of this policy says.

5.10 What we do not refund

To the extent your local law allows, and unless another part of section 5 or section 9 applies, we do not refund:

  • a change of mind after research has started;
  • not using the Service, or using only part of it;
  • forgetting to cancel before a renewal date;
  • third-party costs you pay directly, such as your domain registration, advertising or platform fees;
  • not starting a business, not winning a customer, not receiving replies or enquiries, or not achieving any income, profit or other business result.

6. How to ask for a refund

Contact (to be confirmed) or use support in your workspace, and tell us what went wrong. We aim to reply within 2 business days (to be confirmed). Refunds go back to your original payment method through Stripe. Your bank may take extra days to show them.

7. What a refund or dispute does to your account

7.1 Full refund of a business subscription payment. Paid access for that business subscription ends, and that subscription is cancelled, so you will not be charged again for it.

7.2 Partial refund. A partial refund (for example, a pro-rata outage credit) does not end your subscription.

7.3 AI agent credit top-ups are separate. A refund or card dispute on a top-up affects only that top-up. The top-up's unspent credits are reversed (up to the amount the top-up added, never below a zero balance). Credits already used are not restored. It never changes a business subscription. See the AI Agent Terms.

7.3A Additional Deep Research purchases are separate too. A refund of an additional research purchase reverses only that purchase (its credit is removed if unused). It never changes a business subscription or its included credit.

7.4 Card disputes (chargebacks). You always have the right to dispute a charge with your card issuer. While a dispute about a subscription payment is open, paid operations (research and AI tasks) are paused. If the dispute is resolved in our favour and your paid period has not ended, access resumes. We may provide the card network with our records (for example, your checkout acknowledgments and delivery records) to respond. If a dispute about a subscription payment is decided against us, paid access for that subscription ends. We never penalise you for using your dispute rights. If you think a charge is wrong, contacting us first is often faster.

8. Account deletion

8.1 You can delete your account in Account settings → Privacy & data → Delete my account.

8.2 Deletion cancels your subscriptions immediately. Your first business subscription and any additional-website plans are cancelled at once, not at the end of the paid period. No further charges are made for them, and no automatic refund is issued for the rest of the period. Your websites are unpublished and removed, and domains you connected are disconnected from WhatTrust hosting. If you want to keep access until the end of the period, cancel first (section 4) and delete your account later. If you are within a 14-day withdrawal period (section 9.1), use Withdraw from contract before deleting your account.

8.3 If we cannot cancel a subscription with Stripe, deletion stops and nothing is deleted, so you are never left "deleted but still billed". Please try again or contact us.

8.4 Any unused AI agent credits, including introductory credits, end with the account.

8.5 What is deleted and what is kept is explained in the Privacy Policy.

9. Your rights under local law

These rights apply in addition to this policy. Where they conflict with it, they prevail.

9.1 EU/EEA, UK, Turkey and South Korea — 14-day withdrawal

  • Who. Customers whose checkout region is in the EU/EEA, the United Kingdom, Turkey or South Korea.
  • When. Within 14 days of the start of your subscription, without giving a reason.
  • How. Use Withdraw from contract in Account → Subscription & billing. You can also send us a clear statement that you withdraw, to (to be confirmed).
  • Effect. Your subscription ends immediately and you will not be charged again.
  • If you have not started any Deep Research and have not used any paid add-on, your first payment is refunded in full, automatically.
  • Otherwise, we record your request and work out the proportionate amount for the service provided up to the time you withdrew. We refund the rest within 14 days of your withdrawal, to your original payment method.
  • Starting research during the 14 days. Research starts only if you press "Start my research" and confirm, in a separate step, that you ask for it to start now, that you will pay for the service provided if you withdraw, and that you lose your right of withdrawal once the service has been fully provided. Without that confirmation, the research does not start.
  • Confirmation. We confirm your withdrawal by email, and we confirm your request to start research early on a durable medium.
  • UK, from January 2027 (expected; DMCC Act 2024 Part 4 Ch. 2): reminder notices before the discounted first month ends and a renewal cooling-off right.
  • Turkey. The withdrawal right follows the Distance Contracts Regulation.
  • South Korea. We will ask for your consent at least 30 days before any price increase.
  • Other subscriptions and purchases. Where the law gives a separate withdrawal right for an additional business, an additional website or a one-time purchase, we honour it; contact us to use it.

9.2 Australia

Our services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law, including that they are provided with due care and skill, are fit for any purpose you make known to us, and are supplied within a reasonable time. For a major failure with the service, you are entitled to cancel your service contract with us and to a refund for the unused portion, or to compensation for its reduced value. You are also entitled to be compensated for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. If the failure does not amount to a major failure, you are entitled to have the problem fixed in a reasonable time and, if this is not done, to cancel your contract and obtain a refund for the unused portion. A change of mind is not a failure of a guarantee.

9.3 Québec

You may have rights to cancel a distance contract if required information or a copy of the contract was not provided, or if the service was not supplied. Before your reduced-price first month ends, we will send you written notice 2–10 days in advance stating the end date and the new price.

9.4 Saudi Arabia

You may rescind within 7 days if you have not yet received or benefited from the service.

9.5 New York and other US states

If we raise the price without your affirmative consent, you may have a right to cancel and receive a pro-rata refund.

9.6 Everywhere

Billing errors and unauthorised transactions are also protected by card-network rules and laws such as the US Fair Credit Billing Act and Regulation E. Nothing in this policy stops you from asking your card issuer or bank for help or complaining to a consumer authority.

10. Price changes and renewal reminders

10.1 We will email you at least 30 (to be confirmed) days before a price change applies to your subscription, with instructions on how to cancel.

10.2 Where the law requires your consent (South Korea, and possibly New York), the new price applies only if you consent.

10.3 Once a year we email you a reminder of your renewal terms: the price, how often you are billed and how to cancel.

11. Optional purchases at a glance

  • Additional business: a separate business subscription at the price shown before you buy, with the same acknowledgments as your first business, its own included Deep Research, included website and 20 introductory credits. You can add one only while your first business subscription is active.
  • Additional website for the same business: US$39 per month per website, monthly until cancelled. It starts only when you explicitly agree to it, by ticking a separate unticked box stating the charge, after approving that website, and only after payment is verified. Refunds: section 5.7.
  • Additional Deep Research: US$19 one-time per research; sections 3 and 5.6.
  • AI agent credit top-up: US$20 for 2,000 credits, one-time; section 5.7A and the AI Agent Terms.
  • Not sold by WhatTrust: domain registration and renewal (you buy these from a registrar of your choice) and email mailboxes on your domain.

Cancelling or refunding an optional purchase never cancels or refunds a business subscription.

12. Confirmations we send you

We email you a purchase confirmation (with the renewal price, billing frequency, how to cancel and a summary of this policy), a cancellation confirmation (with your access end date), a withdrawal confirmation, an annual reminder of your renewal terms, a notice when a payment fails, and the price-change notice in section 10. See the Terms, section 4.12.
